Low Vision Clinic

Macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and stroke are some of the conditions that can cause vision loss. We want to help people make the best use of their remaining vision. Optical aids can lessen the frustrations of reduced vision and allow people to do things more easily, effectively and efficiently.

We understand how challenging it can be not seeing well enough to read the newspaper or partake in a favorite hobby. At the Low Vision Clinic people get the attention they need. Our optometrist specializes in low vision and provides individualized care. Patients receive a comprehensive exam designed for people with low vision. Optical aids are prescribed to meet peoples’ visual goals, when appropriate. Many aids are available on a loaner basis to evaluate their usefulness and effectiveness at home. Optical aids can be purchased through our Clinic. Our Low Vision Service Coordinator also works with clients using prescribed aids and demonstrating state of the art assistive technology.

While most of our services are free, there is a fee to attend the Clinic. We are a Medicare provider and accept Medi-Cal. The Clinic is available to people of all ages. Visits are by appointment only with an eye doctor’s referral. We can help you obtain this referral.

Low vision or severe vision impairment need not keep you from enjoying reading and recreation! The Low Vision Clinic can help you regain independence and confidence.
