ANDREW WODECKI, O.D.

Dr. Wodecki evaluates your visual abilities and special needs related to daily living activities, such as mobility, computer work, and visual comfort. He prescribes low vision aids that are most appropriate and helpful to you.

Andrew Wodecki, O.D. received a Doctorate of Optometry from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. He completed externships at the Western Blind Rehabilitation Center, the Low Vision Clinic and Ophthalmology Unit at the Palo Alto Veteran’s Affairs and the Severely Handicapped Clinic at UC Berkeley. He returned to his native Monterey Peninsula after living with his family in Poland, taking part in developing a schoolchildren’s vision screening program through the Karol Marcinkowski School of Medicine. He is currently Director of the Low Vision Clinic at our Blind and Visually Impaired Center, as well as Chief of Optometry at the Presidio of Monterey, US Army Health Clinic, and an associate at the Hattori Vision in Monterey. He has spoken at low vision seminars on macular degeneration and has developed vision training programs for athletes and individuals with visual disabilities.

MOONSET YU, PhD.

Dr. Yu coordinates our low vision services. She assists you in selecting the most helpful low vision aids and provides training in their use both at the clinic or at your home.

Moonset came to the Blind & Visually Impaired Center after years of teaching at the Perkins School for the Blind in Massachusetts. She also worked with students who have visual disabilities in Hawaii. She has dedicated her entire career to working with visually impaired individuals of all ages. She says seeing an individual who is visually impaired maximize his/her independence is very gratifying. Moonset’s training includes a Masters in teaching visually impaired students and a Doctorate in educational evaluation and research from Boston College. Moonset’s expertise well extends into the field of Braille, music Braille and assistive technology.
